OfeFor — Forged Product Configurator

OfeFor — from product configuration to quotation and manufacturing

OfeFor supports forged component manufacturers in preparing quotations and the data needed for manufacturing. Commercial information, product characteristics, dimensional calculations, and prices are brought together in one system. Teams can determine material requirements, prepare quotations, and reuse data for production release, reducing repetitive calculations and data re-entry.

Quotations with linked commercial and technical information

A quotation can contain multiple products together with customer details, quantities, delivery dates and terms, and discounts. Material, drawing, and relevant dimensions are defined for each product. Dimensional descriptions and product codes can be generated automatically, while identification by dimensions and material supports consistent use of product configurations.

Dimensions, weights, and material requirements

The application calculates rough-machining and forging dimensions and allowances, the manufacturing allowance coefficient, and weights at finished, rough-machined, forged, and cut stages. Determining the material length required for cutting complements technical quotation preparation. Customer-specified dimensions can be entered manually to meet specific requirements.

Prices broken down by manufacturing stage

Pricing is linked to the material and operations required for the product. Forging, rough-machining, heat-treatment, and quotation prices are identified separately. Versioned price tables organise changes in rates and provide context when reviewing quotations from different periods. Entered and calculated data is used to generate the commercial quotation and related documents.

Reusing quotations and identifying similar requests

Quotations are stored centrally and can be searched by different criteria or duplicated for similar requests. When entering a product, the application can warn of an earlier quotation with the same finished dimensions. Reviewing existing information helps teams reuse experience accumulated during quotation preparation.

Documents, reporting, and responsibilities

Files can be attached to the quotation alongside the data used to prepare it. Reports and statistics support monitoring of quotation activities. Auditing identifies the record creator and the user who last modified it, while access rights are organised by application function.

Full or partial release to manufacturing

A quotation can be released in full or in part while retaining its link to the original document. Materials and operations defined during quotation preparation form the basis of manufacturing preparation, including cutting, forging, rough machining, heat treatment, and machining. The system supports re-release and, where necessary, issuing a product traveller.

Transferring data to the production application

Production releases can be exported for import into the customer’s information system, with PriTo cited as an example in the documentation. Reusing data limits re-entry and differences between the quoted configuration and the one sent to production. The export structure and import rules are defined for each implementation according to the receiving application and customer requirements.
